We have now moved into PHase 4!
Here are a few of things to remember as we have resumed meeting on-location.
All families sit together and apart from other families.
Respect people’s space. Be aware everyone may not be at a comfort level to shake hands or hug.
Feel free to use hand sanitizer we have available throughout our facility.
Children’s classes resumed on June 7. Kids can join you in adult service until then or until you are comfortable with them returning to their age-appropriate classes. You can also find our kids’ wellness policy on our children’s page.
We invite you to watch online if you are:
Sick
In a high-risk group
A front-line professional who has had contact with COVID-patients.
+ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY ARE WE STARTING SERVICES ON-SITE NOW? We have honored the requests of our government since March 18 and have not held services on-site. We believe it is time for us to begin meeting on-location again, and Governor Kay Ivey lifted the restriction on gatherings of more than 10 people effective May 11. After much prayer and consideration, we feel God is leading us to begin meeting again as a church body on-site beginning May 31.
HOW IS OUR BUILDING CLEANED? We have a professional cleaning service that cleans our building 3 times a week. This cleaning has been in place since we purchased the building, and we have continued to have the church professionally cleaned throughout the time we have been practicing social distancing. Antibacterial soap is available for washing your hands in the bathrooms, and hand sanitizer is available for use throughout the building.
WILL SERVICES STILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW ONLINE? We will continue to provide our weekly message on dci.life and ourdestinychurch.com in Messages as we have always done. We do not currently have equipment to livestream our services with excellence. We are looking to see how we can temporarily provide our services online in a live format.
AM I REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK? WILL VOLUNTEERS BE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS? WHAT ABOUT GLOVES? We will not be requiring anyone to wear a mask. If you feel comfortable wearing a mask, we certainly encourage you to wear one. Please plan to bring your own mask if you choose to wear one. We will not be wearing gloves in the building, and we discourage wearing gloves inside and to practice frequent handwashing/sanitizing measures instead.
WHAT MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING RECOMMENDATIONS? We encourage everyone to maintain a 6-ft distance from one another. Some people will want to hug and shake hands. Others will not. Please be respectful of those who do not want to hug or shake hands and to those who choose to do so. We will have every other row restricted in the Auditorium on May 31 and during the month of June. Families will be encouraged to sit separately from one another.
WILL COFFEE/WATER BE AVAILABLE? Coffee and water are available.
WHAT ARE PLANS FOR CHILDREN’S MINISTRY? Children’s classes are offered for ages 6-weeks to 5th grade. We clean and disinfect our children's area before/after each service. Children are allowed to attend service in the Auditorium if parents prefer during this time. During this time, all classes may not be available due to the size of our serving teams. If this is the case during one of your Sundays with us, we apologize in advance. Our intent is to have classes for all ages. However, our children's safety is high priority. We will not open a class without sufficient leadership. If you would like to volunteer, please, VOLUNTEER NOW.
WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO ARE SICK? If you have any symptoms (cough, fever, body aches, sore throat, sneezing), please stay at home and watch services online. You can view our Wellness Policy on the website – go to dci.life or ourdestinychurch.com and click on Ministries>Kids>Wellness Policy.
HOW WILL PRAYER/ALTAR MINISTRY TAKE PLACE? We will offer prayer ministry for individuals as usual at the end of our services. If you would prefer, you can submit a prayer request online at dci.life.
WILL THERE BE BAPTISM/COMMUNION? For now, we are temporarily postponing baptism and communion celebrations on-location. We will re-evaluate baptisms in the fall. We will plan to have communion on-location at DCI with individual, pre-packaged communion elements.
WHAT IF I AM AT HIGH-RISK/VULNERABLE? If you are elderly, immune-compromised or have another compromising medical condition, or have been exposed to COVID-19 patients, we encourage you to stay at home and watch our services online.
